Commercial crack filling in Calgary
Working cracks are cleaned and filled with hot-applied rubberized material to keep water out of the layers beneath the surface. Crack filling is preventative pavement maintenance: it addresses working cracks before water can enter them and reach the layers underneath.

- Traffic control and same-day return where the work allows
Why an open crack is a structural problem
Water enters a hairline crack, freezes overnight and expands, levering the crack wider. Calgary's climate repeats that cycle through the whole cold season.
Surface wear is cosmetic. Once water reaches the base, the repair stops being maintenance and becomes reconstruction — which is why crack treatment is scheduled ahead of surface work, not after it.
How crack sealing is carried out
Identify working cracks
Not every crack is treated the same way. Cracks that are moving and open enough to take material are the ones that matter.
Clean the crack
The channel is cleared so the material bonds to the crack face rather than sitting on debris.
Hot-pour rubberized material
Applied hot so it flows into the crack and stays flexible through freeze-thaw movement.
Finish and reopen
The surface is cleared and the area is returned to service, often the same day, under traffic control where the site requires it.
Where it fits in the maintenance system
Before sealcoating
Crack treatment goes first. Coating over an open crack hides it without keeping water out.
On its own
Many properties run crack sealing as an annual item between larger maintenance cycles.
Alongside repair
Interconnected cracking in a repeating pattern is a base condition, and those areas are handled as asphalt repair instead.
Commercial customers may also search for crack sealing. APC evaluates the pavement condition and recommends the appropriate crack treatment for the scope.
