ASPHALT REPAIR IN CALGARY

REPAIR OR REPLACE?
This is the question most homeowners are really asking. The answer comes down to the base underneath the asphalt.
If the gravel base is intact and the damage is on the surface or limited to a few areas, repair is almost always the right call. If the base has washed out or the asphalt is failing across the whole driveway, patching is money spent twice.
We'll look at it and tell you which one you're dealing with — including when the answer is "this doesn't need us yet."
HOW A PROPER PATCH GOES IN
- 1. Saw cut or square up the failed area back to sound asphalt.
- 2. Remove the broken material and inspect the base.
- 3. Repair and compact the base if it's compromised.
- 4. Tack the edges so the new material bonds to the old.
- 5. Place hot mix or cold patch asphalt and compact it to grade.
- 6. Seal the perimeter joint against water.
Cold patch shovelled into a hole and driven over is not a repair. It's a delay.
